Augmentative Alternative Communication
Augmentative/Alternative Communication (AAC) includes all forms of communication other than verbal speech. This may include use of a speech-generating device, a communication app on an iPad/tablet, a physical picture exchange system, or a combination of different non-verbal aids. Students who may qualify for use of an AAC device include those who have extremely limited to no speech output, or whose speech is so difficult to understand that they are unable to communicate.
